Things I mean to know 1

The earth’s population is growing and although it is amazing that all of us are growing in today’s modern society one thing society likes to swerve around is the change in the environment. It’s fascinating that the earth sustains our lives and sometimes we don’t realise that we take it for granted. In our defense, back then we didn’t understand the environment as much as we do now, but now that we do we can realise that the topic of climate change is prevalent in today’s world. The most current and ongoing event being the Australian fires that have devastated homes for both humans and animals, but why did it happen? Dr. Holmes, a director of climate change research at Monash University, describes that weather systems are increasingly pole-ward which “means that storm tracks that once brought moisture from the southern ocean are not reaching as far and forested areas are becoming much drier,” this effect happens because these “recent increases in activity are linked to higher sea surface temperatures.” As I learned the higher sea temperatures happen because the fossil fuels we burn cause carbon emissions that deplete our ozone making way for the intensity of the sun to shine brighter. As we see this is all one massive domino effect that we can link with other extreme environmental events. In all my thoughts conclude that the topic of climate change doesn’t become resolved because a few people are researching solutions, the change has to happen from the people because with our growing population making sure there is a safe environment for generations should be a priority.
