The day before Valentine’s Day has been trending and called Galentine’s Day where girls celebrate their friendship with other girls. I looked up how it first started and I was surprised to know that it comes from the tv show Parks and Recreation when Leslie celebrates all the girls in her life. This brings out the character Leslie very well because she is very bubbly and has a great sense of humor. In real life, I think this celebration is a great way to appreciate your friends and for girls to lift each other up. There is so much love to give and to recognize how great the women are around you is very empowering. I also think it’s important to celebrate this day because it shows that you don’t need a man on Valentine’s Day to be happy because you have all your friends that have your back. The friends that stay by you for a long time is such a rewarding feeling in knowing that they will always be there for you. To have a day to recognize those people in your life is not only fun but makes you feel good inside too. Although Galentine’s Day may be a fake holiday, I believe it should be implemented more in girl’s lives to give more love to one and other, so younger girls can see the benefit of lifting up others.
